Fantasy Six Nations 2020 Preview – Scotland

With Saturday 1st February 2020 fast approaching, it’s time to delve a bit deeper into this year’s potential fantasy Six Nations stars. So over the next two weeks FRG is providing a quick preview of all the teams from a fantasy perspective. Today we look at Scotland…

Scotland

In a nutshell

Scotland always seem to promise so much and yet their record in the Six Nations has been consistently disappointing, never finishing above 3rd place in the Six Nations era. 2019 was no different, despite a convincing win against Italy and a magnificent comeback against England they still ended up 5th. This, coupled with an extremely disappointing Rugby World Cup and 3 high-level retirees in Greig Laidlaw, Johnny Barclay and Tommy Seymour, sees Scotland lining up for the 2020 Six Nations low on confidence.

They do however have huge talents capable of unlocking most teams. Most teams would kill to have an attacking talent with the skills and ability of Finn Russell lining up for them (Although following his dropping from the squad for a “protocol breach”, it may be that we may not see his talents on display this year…). On their day, Gregor Townsend is capable of having an enormously dangerous backline, spearheaded by new captain Stuart Hogg, who has been in magnificent form since his move to the Exeter Chiefs.
