FRG’s Fantasy Rugby World Cup Diary – October 7th

Welcome to Day 18 of FRG’s Fantasy Rugby World Cup Diary! A daily post during the World Cup in which I will be previewing the upcoming games, looking back at the previous matches and sharing the progress, trials and tribulations of all my teams across the 4 games live for the World Cup…

Match Day 16 Preview

One game tomorrow with South Africa playing their final game of the pool stage against Canada. Canada have been extremely disappointing during the RWC and South Africa will be looking to rack up some points with a fresh looking side of players looking to force themselves into Rassie’s first team plans. In terms of players to watch out for, Schalk Brits, Sbu Nkosi, Cobus Reinach, Damian Willemse and RG Snyman should all make big contributions from a fantasy points scoring perspective.

FRG’s Teams

The Rugby Magazine – Points: 1532 – Ranking: 164

Team looking fairly intact after this morning’s team announcements, although Emiliano Boffelli has been rested for the USA match so he drops off my bench. I have also switched Ardon and McInally as Ardon starts (and he should certainly get plenty of tackles against the Boks). Tomorrow I have Elton Jantjies, Malcolm Marx and Tyler Ardron in action, while on Wednesday I have 11 players in action so hoping for some big scores on a bumper day of midweek action!

SuperBru – Points: 713 – Ranking: 428

All the Round 3 points have been completed and I have found myself falling down a few places. Round 4 starts tomorrow and I’m avoiding making any changes until tomorrow morning so that I can avoid anything like my Kerevi slip up in Round 3. I’ll definitley have plenty of Wales, South Africa, Scotland and New Zealand representation.

The Daily Telegraph – Points: 1308 Ranking: 61

All getting a bit tight with just 7 transfers left, I’ll probably be making transfers to bring in players for just the biggest mismatches left, South Africa v Canada, Scotland v Russia, New Zealand v Italy and Wales v Uruguay. Tomorrow I’m weighing up adding Brits, Reinach, Willemse or Nkosi, but I’ll hold off until as late as possible to see if any of the squad announcements will force my hand…

The Irish Times – Points: 1093 – Ranking: 41

Got 3 players in action tomorrow, Siya Kolisi starting and Marx and Pollard coming in off the bench. Hoping it will push me up the rankings a bit!
