FRG’s Fantasy Rugby World Cup Diary – October 10th

Welcome to Day 21 of FRG’s Fantasy Rugby World Cup Diary! A daily post during the World Cup in which I will be previewing the upcoming games, looking back at the previous matches and sharing the progress, trials and tribulations of all my teams across the 4 games live for the World Cup.

No games today but no shortage of talking points after the cancellations of England v France and New Zealand v Italy. World Rugby have reported that all other games remain unaffected but Scotland v Japan remains under serious threat. FRG has reached out to the four games and is awaiting details as to any contingency plans they will implement and this will be detailed in the RWC Weekly tips which will publish tonight around 7pm UK Time.

Match Day 18 Preview

Tomorrow sees Australia v Georgia, and Australia have named a very strong side to take on Georgia in both team’s final pool stage match. There is serious class in that Australian backline with the likes of Samu Kerevi, Jordan Petaia and Marika Koroibete. Likewise you can expect upfront Tolu Latu to continue his brilliant form. On the Georgia side, the back row combo of Mamuka Gorgodze and Beka Gorgadze remain big threats.

FRG’s Teams

The Rugby Magazine – Points: 1741 – Ranking: 92

My team is not in a good shape after the cancellations, although in the past The Rugby Magazine has implemented some ingenious solutions to deal with postponements, so fingers crossed! I have one free transfer so will probably bring in a Lock, but will wait until as many squad announcement are made before pulling the trigger on any changes.

SuperBru – Points: 908.5 – Ranking: 428

I’ve got off pretty lightly only losing Ardie Savea and Tiziano Pasquali to the cancellations. Will wait and see if SuperBru formally announce any game changes to address the issue.

The Daily Telegraph – Points: 1308 – Ranking: 39

Not looking good at all. I’ve got 7 players affected by the postponements and only 3 transfers left. Lets see if the Telegraph make any changes but given most teams probably have a considerable allocation of England, France and New Zealand players, some extra transfers for the pool stage wouldn’t go amiss!

The Irish Times – Points: 1232 – Ranking: 6

Again not great, fortunately we get 6 transfers in this stage, but I was planning on using them to get rid of my Fiji and South Africa players, I have three New Zealand and France players too, so I’m going to be very short in Round 4.
