FRG’s Fantasy Rugby World Cup Diary – November 2nd

Welcome to the final entry of the FRG RWC Diary! A huge thank you to all who have read and supported the blog throughout the tournament, your comments and interaction on Twitter have kept me going throughout. Thank you!

Match Day 26 Review

And so it ends, and from a gutted Englishman, a huge congratulations to the brilliant South African team. A magnificent scrum performance, sharp back play and a clinical kicking performance resulted in a convincing 32-12 victory over an England team who were second-best in all departments. There were heroes all over the pitch for South Africa, but from a fantasy perspective, the stars of the show were Makazole Mapimpi, Cheslin Kolbe and Handre Pollard.

The FRG The Rugby Magazine Fantasy League winner is…

A huge congratulations go to Russell Osborne, who not only won the FRG league, but was the overall World Number 1 in The Rugby Magazine. An incredible achievement Russell, congratulations on topping the overall rankings and for winning the FRG league, an FRG Trucker Hat will be on its way. Russell is well known round these parts having also won the Six Nations league. A true legend of the world of The Rugby Magazine. Completing the rest of the Top 5 were Duncan Keene, Terry Gore, Justin Vermeulen and James Froud. Great showing one and all.

FRG’s Teams Final Positions…

And so with the tournament complete and with the “what might have been” thoughts of the 3 cancelled games still painfully fresh in my mind, here’s how my teams ended up…

The Rugby Magazine – Final Points: 3524 – Final Ranking: 69

SuperBru – Points: 1,396 – Ranking: 136 (Pending final points updates…)

The Daily Telegraph – Points: 2267 – Ranking: 36
