Welcome to Day 11 of FRG’s Fantasy Rugby World Cup Diary! A daily post during the World Cup in which I will be previewing the upcoming games, looking back at the previous matches and sharing the progress, trials and tribulations of all my teams across the 4 games live for the World Cup…
Match Day 10 Review
One game today, Scotland v Samoa and a convincing 34-0 bonus point win for Scotland after their hugely disappointing opening match. Top performers included their tryscorers Sean Maitland and Greig Laidlaw, as well as Stuart McInally, Finn Russell and Grant Gilchrist.
No games tomorrow, so a bit of extra time to plan for a huge Wednesday and the return of the All Blacks!
FRG’s Teams
The Rugby Magazine – Points: 944 – Ranking: 262
One starter and one on the bench for me today in the form of Stuart McInally with a very respectable 26 points and Chris Vui with a quite low 14 points (reduced to 7 points being on my bench). Kept the points ticking over and resulted in a small improvement up the rankings. Following the New Zealand squad announcement this morning, I have brought in Ardie Savea (on the bench, but will no doubt make an appearance and will probably also then start against Namibia), Beauden Barrett (probably will play second fiddle in terms of kicking, but kicks don’t generate a huge amount of points in TRM and he’ll have more potential for attacking returns from 15) and Jordie Barrett (the versatility makes him a great asset).
No games tomorrow, so a long wait until the next bit of points scoring…
SuperBru – Points: 459.5 – Ranking: 7,011
Nobody in action today, round 2 all wrapped up and tomorrow I will think about my transfers for Round 3.
The Daily Telegraph – Points: 769 – Ranking: 196
Just one appearance today with Darcy Graham, who scored okay but could and should have had one or two tries to his name. Tomorrow I will have a think about which All Blacks to bring in to maximise the Canada points on Wednesday but not get clobbered by squad rotation for the Namibia game!
The Irish Times – Points: 570 – Ranking: 1123
Nobody in action today and it looks like i’ll be pinning my hopes on Richie Mo’unga for Wednesday with Sevu Reece rested and Ardie Savea benched!
