Fantasy Six Nations 2021 Preview – England

With Saturday 6th February 2021 fast approaching, it’s time to delve a bit deeper into this year’s potential fantasy Six Nations stars. So over the next two weeks FRG is providing a quick preview of all the teams from a fantasy perspective. Today we look at England…

England

In a nutshell

On paper England had an excellent 2020 on the field, ending the year as Six Nations champions and inaugural Autumn Nations Cup champions. Despite this and despite some excellent performances, most notably a convincing 18-7 win against Ireland at Twickenham, there are some areas for concern. Nonetheless, they go into the 2021 Six Nations as favourites, but as France demonstrated in emphatic fashion in February, they can be beaten.

England have huge strength in depth, especially at back row where they can call on a raft of talent. The fact that the form player in the Premiership so far this season, Sam Simmonds, can’t get anywhere near the squad tells you all you need to know. From a fantasy perspective, the potential for points everywhere in the side is huge, all the way from the front row, with prolific try scorers Jamie George and Luke Cowan-Dickie and hard runners in Ellis Genge and Kyle Sinckler (when he returns from his ban), all the way to a lethal back 3 in Jonny May, Anthiony Watson and Elliot Daly.

England have a favourable draw, with 3 home games, including what many view as the real decider against France in Round 4, and should go into Super Saturday against Ireland at the Aviva with everything to play for. With two home openers against Scotland and Italy, it will be prudent to build the core of your initial fantasy teams on a foundation of England players.
