Welcome to Day 27 of the FRG RWC Diary! This is a daily post during the World Cup in which I will be previewing the upcoming games, looking back at the previous matches and sharing the progress, trials and tribulations of all my teams across the 4 games live for the World Cup.
Match Day 23 Review
Wow, a truly incredible semi-final and with the dust settled, England have found themselves in a historic World Cup Final after an incredible 19-7 victory against New Zealand. There were some huge performances all over the park, but the top performers from a fantasy perspective included England’s tryscorer Manu Tuilagi, the sensational Ardie Savea, who was everywhere, Anton Lienart-Brown, George Ford, Maro Itoje and Brodie Retallick
Match Day 24 Preview
Tomorrow will see Wales and South Africa square off. Wales are injury depleted and the bookies have given South Africa a 9-point handicap, but as today has shown, that may well count for nothing. Fantasy relevent players on show include Makazole Mapimpi, Sbu Nkosi, Bongi Mbonolambi, Faf De Klerk and Josh Adams.
FRG’s Teams
The Rugby Magazine – Points: 2633 – Ranking: 83
Some great performance all round, but most people have the same players in their teams, so it’s hard to make much progress up the leagues. My top performers were Itoje, Savea, Retallick, Reece and Mako.
SuperBru – Points: 1,143.5 – Ranking: 507
Some solid performances today from Savea, ALB, Itoje and Vunipola. I’ve gone big with South Africa players tomorrow, so banking on a Boks win!
The Daily Telegraph – Points: 2056 – Ranking: 23
Today I had Mo’unga captaining and great scores from Itoje, Savea, ALB and Reece to give me 109 for the day. I’ll be rethinking my transfer strategy now that New Zealand will be in the Bronze match.
The Irish Times – Points: 1861 – Ranking: 52
Had 7 players in action today with Retallick, Barrett, Savea, Billy V, Mo’unga, Reece and ALB. All scored well, but I have still fallen slightly in the rankings. Tomorrow I have Bongi, Kolisi, G Davies, Parkes, Nkosi and Captain Mapimpi, so hopefully will rise up the rankings again…
